The rim's surface finish and weave pattern only affect the outermost layer. Beneath that layer, all our rims use unidirectional (UD) carbon fibers for strength and lightweight performance. So, when you choose a finish or weave, it's more about aesthetics than performance – though some options add unique character.
Rim Finishes
We offer four types of finish: Paintless – The rim comes out of the mold as a finished product. No sanding, no coating. This is the most raw and lightweight option Glossy – High shine, deep appearance. Makes weaves pop and is easy to clean. Satin – A subtle sheen between glossy and matte. Elegant and modern. Matte – Non-reflective, stealthy look. Hides minor scratches well.
Rim Weaves
We generally offer three weave patterns: UD, 3K, and 12K. All our rims use UD fibers underneath – the weave you see is just the top layer. UD (Uni-directional) – Fibers run parallel to each other. This gives a clean, minimalist look and is our most popular choice. Two styles: UD and Braided UD. The Braided UD is more creative and requires a more complex layup (additional $15 USD 3K – A classic woven pattern. Variants include: – 3K (standard) – 3K Twill (horizontal / vertical) – Hexa-Comb (a honeycomb-like pattern) These variants look different but perform almost identically. For special requirements, please notify our customer service in advance. 12K – A larger, more open weave for an industrial look. Variants include: – 12K – 12K Twill (horizontal / vertical) Note: 12K twill weaves are not listed online – please contact us if you're interested. UD is the most popular weave, followed by 3K, then 12K. If you love creative textures, check out Braided UD.
