The Ultimate Tire Size Chart for Bicycle Rims

Based on ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation) standards and real-world test data, this chart helps you quickly select the safest and best-performing tire width for your rim’s inner width. Incorrect matching may lead to poor handling, increased puncture risk, or even tire blow-off.

1.Core Matching Principle

Recommended tire width ≈ rim inner width × 1.4 – 2.2

(For mountain bikes, up to ×2.5 is acceptable; for road bikes, we recommend ×1.4 – 1.8)

Narrower inner width → narrower tires (road / climbing)

Wider inner width → wider tires (gravel / AM / DH) 2. Detailed Matching Table by Wheel Set Model

4.Safety & Performance Reminders

Narrow tire on a wide rim → The tire may detach from the rim during cornering, resulting in poor lateral support and an increased risk of punctures.
Wide tire on a narrow rim → The tire deforms excessively, causing high rolling resistance and sluggish handling.
Hookless rims:
Strictly follow the maximum tire pressure limit
Use only tires labeled "Hookless compatible" or "Tubeless Ready for hookless".
Based on ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation) standards and real-world test data, this chart helps you quickly select the safest and best-performing tire width for your rim’s inner width. Incorrect matching may lead to poor handling, increased puncture risk, or even tire blow-off.
