Flatness Test After Tire Installation

A Light Travel 700C WG32-45 rim was measured using a high-precision fixture with 0.01 mm accuracy. The rim was mounted horizontally and rotated at 0.3 m/s while lateral and radial runout were recorded on both sides.

Tested rim specification

● Model tested: 700C WG32-45

● External width: 32 mm

● Depth: 38 mm

● Weight: 395 ± 15 g

Result vs. standard

● Radial runout: 0.26–0.30 mm

● Lateral runout: 0.21–0.26 mm

● Stated lightweight rim standard: below 0.4 mm

The worst measured radial result was 25% below the stated limit. The worst measured lateral result was 35% below the stated limit.

For the rider, this means the rim starts closer to true before the wheel is built. That supports more even spoke tension, easier wheel building, and a cleaner finished wheel.
