Vertical Stiffness Test
A Universal Testing Machine applied a vertical load up to 50 kgf at 0.4 mm/s to a new 700C WR32-45 rim that had already passed flatness and roundness checks. Measurements were taken at the valve hole area and at the position perpendicular to it.
Tested rim specification
● Model tested: 700C WR32-45
● Inner width: 32 mm
● Depth: 45 mm
● Weight: 390 g
Result
● Maximum deflection at valve hole: 1.40 mm
● Maximum deflection at perpendicular position: 1.41 mm
● Difference between measured points: 0.01 mm
● Reported vertical deflection range: approximately 1.2–1.41 mm under 50 kgf
The two measured positions were nearly identical, showing consistent vertical behavior across the tested points.
For the rider, that consistency matters because the rim is not relying on one unusually stiff or weak section. Once built into a wheel, this supports a more predictable ride feel under load.
