XC-30 Rim Takes 3rd Place at Sea Otter Classic Fuego XL
On April 18, 2026, Light Travel customer Emile Goguely lined up for Fuego XL at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California.
Fuego XL is a demanding cross-country race: 106 kilometers (66 mi), 2,500 meters (8,200 ft) of elevation gain, and a course that mixes flowy singletrack, sandy climbs, gravel, and paved roads.
Emile raced it on a single-speed setup, riding wheels he hand built with Light Travel XC-30 rims and spokes.
His plan was to race tactically and come back strong on the second lap. The heat changed that plan. With cramping becoming a real risk, he had to manage the effort, stay composed, and ride within the limits of the day.
A long day in the heat on a demanding course with a single gear: a podium finish, finishing 3rd.
