Integrated Manufacturing Ecosystem, From Prepreg to Packed Rim

Every rim and wheelset moves through the same production sequence, with inspection gates between stages — controlled by SPC, documented per rim, and certified under ISO 9001.

Production Sequence

Eight steps, gated by inspection

Every rim and wheelset moves through the same production sequence, with inspection gates between stages:

Technician validating prepreg raw material batches on arrival at the Light Travel Cycling factory
Step — 01

Raw material intake

100% validation of T700 / T800 / T1000 prepreg batches on arrival.

Inspection: incoming material
CNC cutting station at the Light Travel Cycling factory: machined rail, calibrated rulers and cutting templates used to cut carbon sheets into engineered plies
Step — 02

CNC cutting

Carbon sheets cut into engineered plies, each with calibrated dimensions and fiber orientation.

Inspection: ply geometry

Step — 03

Hand layup

Laminators place each ply according to the layup schedule on the molding tool.

Step — 05

Drilling

Spoke and drainage holes placed with ±0.05mm repeatability, chamfered in the same setup.

Inspection: hole position
Surface finishing of a carbon rim: sanding, painting and decal application at Light Travel Cycling
Step — 06

Finishing

Sanding, painting, decals, and laser-etched branding to spec.

Inspection: surface & graphics
Final inspection: QC technician verifying carbon rim runout with a 0.01mm dial indicator on a finished rim at Light Travel Cycling
Step — 07

Final inspection

Runout and tension checks for rims; spoke-tension verification for every wheelset, plus QR-code registration into the traceability system.

Inspection: final QC + QR
Protective packing process at Light Travel Cycling: carbon rims wrapped in fabric sleeves, cushioned and boxed in FRAGILE-marked export cartons, ready for dispatch
Step — 08

Packing and shipping
